Studio
Theater is an opportunity for students to direct a script of their choice.
You pick a script, you submit an application to the Studio Theater Coordinator,
and if your script is approved, you work out the details of the performance
as its director.
Studio Theater is a good place for low-budget, experimental, or student-written
works to go up at Stuy. Past Studio shows have included Twelve
Angry Men, You're
A Good Man Charlie Brown, and Burn This.
Usually, Studio shows perform outside of the theater. The library, the lobby,
and the teacher's cafeteria have been used to great success. The focus is on
the performance of the actors and the quality of the directing, instead of costuming,
sets, or special effects.
If you are interested in putting on a Studio show, look for scripts with small
casts (or easy double-casting) and the potential for performance in non-theater
areas. Once you have found something, email Maxine Spier to find out how to submit. |
